Exploring 80 Years of Innovation and Sustainable Solutions
In 1941, brothers Harold and Donald Bartelt founded Bartelt Engineering Co.
The company started as a machine shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but quickly grew into a leading manufacturer of packaging machinery.
Their vision was to revolutionize the packaging industry with innovative machines that would set new standards for efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Today, Bartelt Packaging is now a leader in the packaging machinery industry, providing solutions for a variety of markets.
Let’s take a closer look at Bartelt’s journey and how they continue to break new ground and test the limits.
Pioneering HFFS Technology: A Legacy Begins

Shortly after, the company created the 1st HFFS machine designed for the food industry, and the “Bartelt Packager” was sold to Quaker Oats. By 1963, Bartelt sold over 1,000 machines securing its reputation as a pioneer in the industry.
Evolution into ProMach: Expanding Horizons
Fast forward to today, and Bartelt has sold over 10,000 machines. The company is now under the umbrella of the larger company known as ProMach, with product lines like Kayat and Scandia.
